Annual Instructors Conference
The BCPA Annual Instructors Conference has now been rescheduled for Saturday November 29, 2014 from 9:00 – 11:30 am.

We are pleased to announce that Iain Simpson and Mick O’Neill, head piping and drumming instructors of the George Watsons’ College juvenile pipe bands, will be the featured presenters in the International Instructors segment of the Conference.

We are also pleased to announce that Jack Lee and Reid Maxwell will be the featured presenters in the Regional Instructors segment of the Conference.

The Conference will also include presentations by professional middle school teachers, who are also pipers, on effective instructional techniques utilized in the classroom that are transferable to the teaching of piping and drumming.

The Conference will be conducted online via webinar and Internet two-way audio. To register, please complete the form by 11:59 pm November 22.

The November Mini Gatherings will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 starting at 11:00 am at the SFU Burnaby Campus in the West Mall Centre (directly north of the Gyms). Paid parking is available in the parkade directly west of the West Mall Centre.

This year there will be a new addition to the format of the Mini Gatherings. For the higher grades (Grades 1 and 2 for Piping and Side Drumming, and Grade 1 for Tenor Drumming), one event in each grade will be conducted in a Master Class format where the adjudicator will provide a short verbal assessment for the competitor directly after their performance. Results will still be announced and critique sheets provided as normal. These are great opportunities for the competitors, their instructors & parents, and other adjudicators to gain important insights. Attendance by all parties is encouraged.

Grand Aggregate Awards Ceremony
The 2014 Grand Aggregate Awards Ceremony will take place before the start of the November 1 Mini-Gathering at 10:30 am in the West Mall Centre 3rd Floor Lounge Area. Please attend and support the award recipients.
