IMPORTANT Notice on the 2019 BC Highland Games & Scottish Festival

All solo competitors, members of competing bands, and parents should read the following IMPORTANT information about the 2019 BC Highland Games & Scottish Festival.

As much is new in working with the new venue, your cooperation and patience is requested.

The following map shows the general area.

The Piping & Drumming Registration Tent is planned to be in the south-east corner of The Meadow.

The late morning Performance Bands shows and the afternoon Band Competitions will take place in front of bleachers positioned in the south-east area of The Meadow.

The Massed Bands and Awards Ceremony will take place on the Main Stage at the end of the day.

Like last year, the Open Piping Piobaireachd on Friday June 14 will take place on the Main Stage starting at 5 pm.

Parking is similar to previous years, in the lots on the east side of Pinetree Way or in the lots of Douglas College on the west side of Pinetree Way.

Entry Gates and Admission Tickets

The BC Highland Games & Scottish Festival is again using the Eventbrite online ticketing system and barcode scanners.

On Sunday June 9, emails were sent to the Official Band Contact (shown on the roster the band registered with the BCPA Membership Chair as of May 25, 2019) for each of the pipe bands competing at the 2019 BC Highland Games.

The email contains instructions detailing how their band members can obtain their complimentary admission ticket.

By Wednesday June 12, similar emails will be sent to solo players not competing in a band on the Saturday and people involved in the administration, management, and execution of the piping, drumming, and band events on the Saturday.

People must print out their barcoded complimentary admission ticket OR bring their smartphone with the email containing that ticket and present it at ANY of the following Gates:

– North-west side Ticket Holders Entrance (must possess a ticket; no tickets sales there)
– North side Main Entry
– South side Entrance

People will have to pay Full Admission price at the gate if they forget their printed ticket or cannot show the email with the barcoded ticket at the gate.

12 noon meeting of Pipe Majors/Band Directors to review Massed Bands show logistics

All Pipe Majors/Band Directors are required to attend a 12 noon meeting with Drum Majors John Nichol and J.P. da Silva at the Piping & Drumming Registration Tent to be briefed on the logistics of bands entry, exit, and performances for the Massed Bands on the Main Stage.

Bands coordination for this unique performance event is extremely important and communication of Drum Majors Nichol’s and da Silva’s information from you to your band members is critical.
