The Passing of Andrew Peck

Andrew Peck, former piper in the SFU Pipe Band and its first band manager when the City of Port Moody Pipe Band became the SFU Pipe Band in 1981, passed away on January 15.

Andrew started piping with the Richmond Boys Pipe Band in the late 1960s and was a member of the Richmond Pipe Band when they placed 4th at the 1977 World and Cowal Championships in Grade 3. He joined the City of Port Moody Pipe Band in 1980, continuing playing and managing with the SFU Pipe Band until 1985 and then serving in an administrative capacity until 1989.

Andrew also briefly served on the BCPA Board of Directors in the early 1980s.

Andrew had a stellar business career in real estate, moving up the ranks from an agent to become broker owner, vice-president and general manager of Royal Pacific Realty Group. His volunteering that started in pipe bands continued with service on the boards of and as President of the Greater Vancouver, British Columbia, and Canadian Real Estate Associations.

Over the years, Andrew maintained his connection with the SFU Pipe Band, travelling with his partner Paul to the band’s concert at Lincoln Center in New York in 2012.

A Celebration of Life for Andrew will be held on Saturday March 2, 2019 from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, 3811 Point Grey Road, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, Andrew asked that donations be made to the BC Cancer Foundation (“rememberingandrew”) or the Canadian Cancer Society.
