With the return to school for many members and the start of a new season soon upon us, the BCPA would like to provide advance notice of the dates and venues of several important events occuring over the next several months.
Mini-Gatherings
The Mini-Gatherings return to their previous location of Pitt River Middle School, 2070 Tyner Road, Port Coquitlam, BC. However, they will be on Saturday, November 3, 2012 (one week earlier than usual) and Saturday, February 16, 2013 (one week later than usual).
Knockouts
The Knockouts return to their previous location of the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson St, Vancouver, BC. They will be on Saturday, November 10, 2012 and Saturday, February 9, 2013. The Grand Aggregate Awards will be presented at the November Knockout.
Annual Dinner
The Annual Dinner will be on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Scottish Cultural Centre.
Annual Gathering
The Annual Gathering will be on Friday, March 29 and Saturday March 30, 2013, location(s) to be announced.
Annual General Meeting
The BCPA Annual General Meeting will take place in the afternoon of November 10, 2012 (location to be announced).
Special General Meeting
A Special General Meeting of BCPA members will be held in late September to approve by-laws changes needed for the Annual General Meeting. Members will soon be sent an official notice on the details of the Special General Meeting (date/time, location, and by-laws changes for approval).
The BCPA Board of Directors decided to return the Mini-Gatherings and Knockouts to their traditional venues because of unanticipated and unexpected limitations and complications with the use of Douglas College in New Westminster (which also significantly affected the Annual Gathering).
The Board of Directors also decided to move the Mini-Gatherings away from the dates of the Knockouts to avoid conflict with other events on the regional and national calendar, to reduce the number of BCPA activities occuring on the same day, and recognizing the fact that combining the Mini-Gatherings and Knockouts at the same venue on the same day did not achieve the intended goal of increasing attendance at both events.

During the week of September 9: Distribution to members of the official notice on the details of the Special General Meeting in late September.
By September 14: Posting of the 2012/13 Mini-Gatherings and Knockouts entry form
By September 14: Posting of the 2012/13 New Member & Renewal of Membership form
